I started Tin Pot Creamery in my apartment kitchen in 2012, and it has been a dream come true to see it grow into 5 ice cream shops in the Bay Area. But, like so many small and local businesses, these last few weeks have hit us really hard as the Bay Area has put public health measures in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
What has been particularly soul crushing about it is that we do not have work for 80% of our employees, and they are now without the jobs they rely on. There are so many unknowns right now, but our plan is to fully reopen all of our locations and welcome our employees back with open arms once we get through this crisis.
In the meanwhile, many of them are on tight budgets and without income to support their families. Unemployment benefits are sub-minimum wage and will not cover the costs of housing, food and necessary supplies like diapers. Our people are wonderful and bring heart to everything they do - they are helpers, supporters of others and do their part to make the world a little better.
I started Tin Pot Creamery to bring people together and this campaign is about keeping people together. 100% of your donation will go to our employees, and I appreciate you making a contribution no matter how small. Truly, everything counts.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We are in this together!
